Music Program:

Choral music is an important part of the school curriculum for students. It not only provides a place to experience music through singing and moving, but also provides a place where students may excel and succeed. Success in one area fosters commitment and focus which then transfers to other areas of the students' lives as well. My goal as a music educator is to provide experiences and activities that garner musicianship and vocal technique in a safe environment where all students, regardless of ability, can participate and be accepted as part of the choral community. The choral program provides this opportunity to students who may not otherwise have the opportunity to learn, create, and perform music.

Curriculum goals:

When students leave my choral program they should be able to identify and use all key and time signatures and sing competently in part singing. In addition, students will have a working knowledge of solfege using movable do. Students should also be able to sing in a way that their voice blends in the choral sound using good vocal technique and breath support. When my students perform they will use good posture, deep breath, and listen as much to the people around them as they do to themselves.
